Return to Play Overview
Posted Jun 24, 2020

The Wesburn FC Return to Play page contains information and guidelines set by viaSport and BC Soccer. BC Soccer has approved a return to modified training beginning as early as July 15, 2020.  Wesburn FC will soon be offering summer programming for our members. We are working diligently to create our specific Return to Play & Safety Guide. Once posted we recommend all families carefully review the processes outlined to fully understand the measures we are taking as a club to mitigate the risks associated with returning to play.

On June 1st 2020, Via Sport – the organization empowered by the BC Government to oversee our province’s return to sport (RTS) sector oversight released its Return To Sport Guidelines for BC.  Please find the link to this document  HERE .

On June 2nd 2020 BC Soccer (BCSA) issued its sport specific Return to Play Plan – Phase 1.  (RTPP) Please find the link to this document  HERE .

On August 24th 2020 BC Soccer (BCSA) issued its sport specific Return to Play Plan – Phase 2.  (RTPP) Please find the link to this document  HERE .

On Dec 3rd 2020 BC Soccer (BCSA) issued a return to its sport specific Return to Play Plan – Phase 1.  (RTPP) Please find the link to this document  HERE .

*** PLEASE NOTE:

  • Wesburn FC is undertaking a Club driven, controlled/progressive introduction to team training. The District, Municipal and Club accepted plan will be posted to this website in the coming days.
  • Player’s must be registered to be able to train, we ask that player’s register asap to help us in the planning process. Registration in advance is required to participate in any activity.

The Wesburn FC Board of Directors is fully engaged to create a modified sport specific and safe Return to Play Plan possible.  Our plan needs to meet BCSA/CSA, and VIA Sport Guidelines, and then receive District and Municipal approval.

While approved RTPP plans can theoretically begin by early July, the Burnaby District Youth Soccer Association District Board and our Burnaby Club partners have agreed that a target sometime in Mid July is a realistic goal given all PHO, BCSA, District and Municipal requirements to ensure the safety of all participants.

Over the past several months there has been a significant amount of information to digest and process.  Thru that time frame a great many hours of planning and work has gone into where we are today.  The plan and our approach will be continually evolving as phases and stages change. More information is forthcoming so please check back here on a regular basis for updates. Our goal for this summer is to offer safe return to soccer activities for our players that we can expand upon as we move thru the coming months.

Below we have provided some reference links which provide a summary of relevant information from their respective sources:

  • A reminder that our Provincial Government is in Phase 2 of the BC Restart Plan.  Please find the link to this document  HERE .
  • Municipal information for the City of Burnaby, to the gradual re-opening of facilities can be found HERE .
  • Via Sport – the organization empowered by the BC Government to oversee our province’s return to sport (RTS) sector oversight – has released its Return To Sport Guidelines for BC.  Please find the link to this document  HERE .
  • BC Soccer (BCSA) has sent out its sport specific Return to Play Plan – Phase 1.  Please find the link to this document  HERE .

We urge everyone to stay current on all the public information being provided.  BCSA and Wesburn FC will continue to follow the guidelines set out by our government agencies regarding COVID-19.  The safety of all our members remains our first priority.

Please stay safe and healthy,

The Wesburn FC Board

WBNFC Soccer Operations & Return to Play - Return to Phase 1 Announced

Soccer protocols have been updated!

Effective Dec 3rd, 2020 we will be returning to our Return to Play Phase 1 Protocols. Wesburn FC remains committed toward developing youth and our soccer community while standing together with BC Health Authorities, Canada Soccer, BC Soccer and Burnaby District Youth Soccer.

Wesburn FC has worked diligently with the above parties to create our sport specific plan. For our current plan version please refer to our website in the Resources section "Return to Play".

Wesburn FC will be continuing forward with soccer activities in a modified format meeting our governing bodies requirements. The impacts to our soccer initiatives have been great both on our children and the club but we continue doing our part to keep the kids on the field safely.

As we move forward we will continue to update our website along with sending out email notifications to our club membership.

We continue to reiterate, stay strong, be compassionate and let our club moto of "RESPECT" guide us all in soccer and life.
